Canterbury Region

The Canterbury region is located in the central-eastern part of the South Island.  It is a large region covering from the south of Kaikoura down to the most southern tip of the region Livingston.

It includes Hamner Springs in the north and is boarded by Arthurs pass and the Aoraki/Mount Cook National park in the west and the Coast line of the South Pacific ocean on the east.

With such a diverse and wide spread landscape the region has a lot to offer.

From the relaxing surrounds of Hamner Springs to the vibrant and strong

Christchurch City.

Head further south to explore the unique beauty of places like Lake Tekapo

and the Mackenzie Country.

The region has a rich history from the once main port of Lyttleton Harbour

to the regions resent history with earthquakes.

Due to the share size of the region I have broken it down into three main areas,

North Canterbury, South Canterbury and Christchurch area.

Though these are not geographically accurate to the North and South regions, it will help you to navigate your adventures a bit easier when searching on here.
