Havelock Waterfall Walk
Situated at the base of the Mt Takorika walkway, this short walk is a great leg stretch and fun to do with the kids.
If you are in Havelock and are looking for a short walk to do that will give you a great view, this waterfall track is perfect for you. It is maintained by the local community and you can tell some hard work has been put in to keep it so clean and usable.
Starting up behind the local fire station next to the town hall, you walk past a few local residential property's then head up on a well sign posted track. It is steep at the start but has some neat wood carved art work to check out as you go.
Following the sign posts you weave up through some beautiful lush bush, parts are steep but there is plenty to stop and see. Following along some moss covered rock faces, I could imagine all the amazing glow worms that would be there at night time.
After a bit you will reach the bench seat look out where you can enjoy some views out over Havelock.
It doesn't take you long from there to reach a neat wee hand made sign post telling you what way to go to the waterfall or what way to head up Mt Takorika. Following the waterfall track just a short 50 meters you are greeted by a beautiful water catchment area with a little waterfall at the top of it.
You can carry on the unmarked track to Mt Takorika or turn back to the marked track only 50min behind you.
It took us under 1hr to do this walk to the waterfall with the kids, but if you were with young kids I would allow an hour for plenty of wee stops along the way.
