New Zealand Great Walks

We have a mission as a family, to walk all the NZ great walks together and build some amazing family memories as we go.

It is something we want to do with our kids as they grow up to help build a great bond with them and to achieve something memorable that they will be able to cherish.

As we do each walk we hope to build more tramping and outdoor skills and add to our knowledge of NZ as we go.

NZ has 10 current great walks, 3 in the North Island Lake Waikaremoana, Tongariro Northern Circuit and Whanganui Journey.  The Whanganui Journey is a kayak or canoe journey up the Whanganui river instead of a tramping adventure.

The South Island has 6 great walks, Abel Tasman, Heaphy, Paparoa Pike29 Memorial track, Routeburn, Kepler and the Milford.

Number 10 is the Rakiura track on Stewart Island.

We want to document our adventures on the great walks as we go, all the highs and lows and every thing we learn along the way.

We hope you enjoy following out journey and maybe it will inspire you to explore one of the Great Walks yourself.
