Pelorus Scenic Reserve

The Beautiful Pelorus Scenic Reserve / Te Hoeire - this place truly has my heart, why? because this is our backyard.

We live just a short 5 min drive up the road from the reserve in Rai Valley, My kids have spent most of their life with this as their local park so to speak.

Pelorus is the most beautiful spot filled with lots of scenic walks, to stunning swimming holes, an incredible DOC campground and the best part of all the Pelorus Cafe who sell the best pies!!!

Our kids have grown up exploring the walks and bush life around this reserve. The have learnt to both swim and kayak in the beautiful Pelorus river.

Their are always amazing views and bird life to be seen.

I highly recommend at least a stop in on your way past between Blenheim and Nelson. Even better go and stay for the weekend, I am positive you will not regret it, just take some insect repellent with you.

The reserve is is approximately 45 min from Nelson or 35 min from Blenheim.

Pelorus Scenic Reserve Walks

Activity Type	Place Name	Intro
Short/Day Walk	Trig K - Pelorus	Trig K is an epic walk with some amazing views !! if you have the time to do this its well worth the climb.
Short/Day Walk	Circle Track - Swing Bridge Walk	The circle track is the best walk to do at the Pelorus Reserve if you only have time to do one walk. It is an easy 30-45 min loop track that gives you stunning views of the river and bush.
Short/Day Walk	Waterfall's Track - Tawa walk	This track takes you to two different waterfalls, the first waterfall is only an easy 15-20min return walk a great one to do with the kids. The second waterfall is a 2hr return walk, great to do in the summer and have a wee swim under the waterfall.
Short/Day Walk	Totra Walk	The Totra walk is a great small walk to do especially with young kids, it is nice a flat and their are some amazing hollow Totra trees for the kids to check out. You can also get down to Totra flat via this walk.
